2020 was a crazy year for wedding planning where Covid-19 disrupted plans and made you roll with the punches. Joee and Liam were some of my first clients to get in touch and say no matter what they just wanted to get married, so we made it happen. Although this elopement on the beach was plan B for Joee and Liam, it turned out absolutely perfect for them.
The house they rented to host their elopement in Rockaway Beach, Oregon had fun whimsical coastal touches and a path that led straight to the beach. Every detail from their wedding day felt so special and intentional, including the DIY flowers, the vintage wedding dress, and the handmade wedding rings made by the Liam’s Mom (Althouse Studio). When I arrived, Joee did her own hair and makeup upstairs and had her mom and neice help her into her gorgeous vintage dress from Shop Gossamer. When she was ready I took her out to the first look in the beach grass and Liam’s reaction was so precious. Something super important to them was being able to share private vows with each other alone before the ceremony, so after the first look, I left them to share their private vows. When they were ready, everyone walked the short path from the house to the beach, carrying baskets of champagne and flowers. They had Joee’s brother officiate the wedding and there were so many laughs and happy tears because of it. After the ceremony, they celebrated with hugs and champagne on the beach. We took some quick portraits and headed back inside for the party. To eat, Savour and Graze had set up the most beautiful charcuterie board and the cake was from a local bakery called SaraSotas. Soon the sun went down, and they shared their first dance and ate cake with their family. This day was seriously one of my favorites from 2020! Enjoy <3
Awww, this elopement is so sweet! I LOVE her wedding dress and your portraits of the whole thing are incredible. Also, that shark over the mantle is awesome – such a cute little beach getaway! 😸
